About Me

A Life of Service. A Commitment to Community.

My story has always been grounded in community, service, and a deep belief in creating better opportunities for the people around me.

I have dedicated a large portion of my life to public service. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving as a Mayor, Councilmember, City Clerk, and Director. Through each of these roles, I have remained a working-class citizen committed to listening to my community, understanding its challenges, and giving back.

Since 2004, I have also had the privilege of serving as a Teacher and Teacher Adviser with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Division of Adult and Career Education (LAUSD-DACE). Every day, I work with adults and young people beginning at age 18, helping them prepare for college, careers, and new opportunities. Education has shown me the power of giving someone the tools and confidence to build a better future.

My commitment to community also extends to one of our most essential resources: clean, reliable, and sustainable water.

I believe every community deserves a water future that is safe, sustainable, and thoughtfully planned. That is why I support protecting our local water supply, expanding water recycling and conservation, and investing in innovative solutions that can strengthen our water independence and reduce our reliance on imported water.

My journey—from growing up in the communities I serve, to becoming an educator, healthcare professional, community leader, and public servant—has always been about service, opportunity, and giving back.

For me, public service is personal. It is about showing up, listening, and working every day to help build stronger communities and a brighter future for the people I am proud to serve.

My Commitment to Division 4

The trust that the people of Division 4 have placed in me is something I never take for granted. I am proud to serve the communities that have shaped my life and continue to inspire me every day.

From Bell and Bell Gardens to Boyle Heights, Commerce, Cudahy, East Los Angeles, Florence-Firestone, Huntington Park, Lynwood, Maywood, Montebello, Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, South Gate, Vernon, and Walnut Park, I see families, workers, students, small businesses, and neighbors who deserve to be heard and represented.

Being your Director on the Water Replenishment District Board is more than a title to me. It is an opportunity to give back to the communities I know and love and to help protect something every family depends on: clean, reliable, and sustainable water.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I carry that responsibility with me every day. My commitment is personal because these are not simply the communities I represent—they are communities that are part of my story.
